E-Learning

Introduction
E-Learning is an efficient method of education using the Internet. With eLearning you can make courses available for students to study any time and from anywhere, in addition to interacting with them in an easy and effective way.
Apparently, eLearning became a requirement for the foreseen educational process not only to cope with fast occurring developments in educational institutions all over the world, but also for its real impact on enhancing education and educational outcomes.

 

And the value propositions achieved by eLearning at KKU will include:

Levels of eLearning 

eLearning has been adopted at three levels in KKU, explained in the following table:

Level Description Deployment
Supportive No change on classroom attendance.
•  Courses are facilitated through the LMS providing students with materials, assignments, and collaboration tools like discussion boards.
 
•  Mandatory for all courses without exceptions.
Courses should include at least the following elements:
- Syllabus and instructor information.
- Courses content (lecture notes, documents, recordings, etc.). Covoerting 100% of the material is not necessary.
- Announcements board.
- Discussions forums
- Assignments section.
 
Blended •  Students' attendance is both in class and online according to the percentage specified by the college and the course instructor.
Courses are offered through the LMS providing students with materials, assignments, and collaboration tools like discussion boards.
 
Not mandatory. Should be requested by the instructor with the approval of the college.
To teach a blended course, the course instructor should apply to the eLearning deanship using the "Blended course application form" signed by him/her, the department head, and the dean. The application should be submitted before the semester in which the course will be taught in commences.
Courses must include at least the following elements:
- Syllabus and instructor information.
- Courses content (lecture notes, documents, recordings, etc.).
- Announcements board.
- Discussions forums
- Assignments section.
 
Full •  Attendance and activities are online except for exams and orientation lectures.
Courses are offered through the LMS providing students with materials, assignments, and collaboration tools, covering all course materials and aspects.
 
Limited, in coordination between the college offering the course and the eLearning deanship.
